APPLICATION OF COMPUTERS IN ECONOMIC OR BUSINESS
A. The Role of Computers in the Field of Business /
Economics
The role of
computers in the field of business is very large because the purpose of
business is to look for profits derived from the results of transactions, both
goods and services. The use of computer aids is a necessity to develop and
advance a business.
In the business
field, usually computer systems are used to process salaries, statistical data,
and accounting (finance). Computer systems automate routine office jobs. Many
businesses have used computer systems to monitor inventory, make financial
reports, forecast, and plan future business. For the business world,
telecommunications networks were initially used as well as electricity
networks, water distribution, and other utility networks. This is an important
source, but in the past the company had little influence. Companies have a
limited choice of services obtained from the provision of monopoly managed
services. Today, corporate users put together the entire network under their
control, cutting off some public network shortcuts or being overtaken.
Deregulation and new digital technology have allowed companies to consciously
design and operate internal and private telecommunications networks to improve
their competitive position. What was once the cost of doing business is now a
source of competitive advantage.
Computer services
are now being used by all economic sectors, from mining and agriculture to
financial, manufacturing and tourism services. This private network is present
in all global industries, where multinational companies become networking
companies. Large-scale business users have the need for systems that are
cost-effective, free, secure, automated, integrated and reliable. If local
service providers cannot meet these needs, at a reasonable cost, large
companies have the option of developing their own private networks.
Multinational
companies have been able to coordinate production and marketing with
satellite-based communication systems with video-conferencing capabilities, for
the purpose of coordinating product development and manufacturing design.
Small companies
are more limited in their ability to develop their own computer network or to
rent, because of the large cost. This is an economic choice only if the
organization is large enough to generate enough traffic to generate savings.
Because of this, global companies are the first parties to adopt new computers.
Sectors that are highly dependent on computers include, among others, financial
service companies.
In a broader
scope, for example in the business environment, the presence of information
technology is beginning to be realized can present a variety of solutions that
can help existing business processes. The IT department in a company starts to
be built and is constantly being asked to develop a service, develop a system,
and optimize business efficiency based on information technology.
